INTERIOR FINISHES FOR FIRE RETARDANTS
Sections of the code contain general scoping provisions regarding the use of interior finishes and the performance requirements for controlling fire growth within buildings by restricting interior finish materials and decorations. Code addresses wall and ceiling finishes, interior floor finish requirements. Past fire experience has shown that interior finish and decorative materials are key elements in the growth and spread of fire. In some cases, as with Boston’s devastating Coconut Grove fire in 1942, interior decorations were the first materials ignited. In many other cases, the interior finish materials become involved in the early stages of fire and contributed to it’s early growth and spread. The provisions of code require specific materials used as interior finishes and decorations to have a flame spread index and or flame resistance, based on the relative hazard associated with the occupancy. The performance of the material is evaluated based on test performance in accordance with standards such as ASTM, NFPA, and Flame Shield Consulting professionals or permit applicant is responsible for specifying and providing documentation on the flame spread and flame resistance of a material in order to support the permit application. The building official then evaluates the information supplied to establish that compliance with the applicable code provisions and or reference standards has been met. As with all other code requirements it is also important that Flame Shield Consulting does a field inspection and certification to verify that all materials are in accordance with the approved documents, and code.

EXPANDED VINYL WALL COVERING:
Wall covering consisting of a woven textile backing, an expanded vinyl base coat layer and a no expanded vinyl skin coat. The expanded base coat layer is homogeneous vinyl layer that contains a blowing agent. During processing, the blowing agent decomposes, causing this layer to expand by forming closed cells.

FLAME RESISTANCE:
All materials or combinations of component materials, single or multilayered, resist the spread of fire to certain degree because of their inherent properties. The value of this property is determined by two testing methods.

FLAME SPREAD:
The rate at which flames travel along the surface of a combustible finish material directly impacts the speed with which a fire spreads within a room, space.

FLAME SPREAD INDEX:
The ASTM test method renders measurements of surface flame spread and smoke density in comparison with test results obtained by using select red oak as a control material.

INTERIOR FINISH:
This is material that is applied to the surfaces of walls, ceiling and floors. Interior finish material is exposed to the interior space enclosed by these building elements.

Materials that are installed above the structural floor element and exposed to the room or space are considered finish materials.

Fire an Flame Retardant Paint and Stain Additives
SPA-200, Is For Stains, Acrylics And Polyurethane.
LPA-202, Is For Latex Paints For All Water Based Paints All Brands.
PFR-350, Paint.
Add 12- 16 ounces of pre-mixed additive to 1 gallon of paint use interior and exterior. Add fire retardant additive to cabinets, doors, sheet rock, window frames and paper boxes, paper fiber containers, flooring, paneling, and many others. This is a Class A Flame Retardant that meets ASTM E-84, and UL 263 it has a flame spread of 5, Smoke Dev of 110.
Product Name and Synonyms: LPA 202, SPA 200, PFR 350, Universal water based latex acrylic and polyurethane additives. Trade secret formulas, these products are protected and known as intellectual property. Component gas registry, Boric acid 2.6%, Weight percent, sodium Bromide 4.5 %, weight percent, Surfactant .005, weight percent. Clear, odorless, Boiling point 212 degrees, Solubility in water, complete fire extinguishing media not combustible, non flammable, hazardous combustion products may contain fumes of hydrogen bromide, nitrogen bromine. Flush spills with water, skin and eye contact flush with water; dispose in accordance with all appropriate federal, state and local regulations. Registrations/Certifications, N/A no EPA issues.

Fabric (F-2000)
F-2000 Is a clear liquid, dries invisible, No odor, prevents combustion. Flammable fabric type materials in homes, offices, hospitals, schools and others. Fabric-Shield provides excellent fire and smoke protection throughout all treated applications.
F-2000 excellent protection for artificial flowers, carpets, drapes, rope, straw, upholstery as well as others. Test results for f-2000 formula has been tested by Southwest Research Institute and exceeds the FAR 25.853 A & B, (Ignition resistance of aircraft interior materials) The Boston, NFPA 701, NFPA 260, NFPA 265, New York, New Jersey- Port Authority, Boston, Rode Island and Cal Tech 117-F, Requirements for extinguishing time. Char length, drip sec, and AFGL-SEC, in addition Fabric Safe treated cotton exceeds the stringent standard set forth with section 1237.1, Title 19 Public Safety Codes regulations from California. F-2000 has been tested and approved as a fire retardant for mattress ticking and padding under Federal Standard 16 CFR (FF4-72).

Easy to apply Spray, brushed, dipped; one application can make wood structures fire safe, with protection up to 20 years also preserves the wood and resist mold and mildew. Can be used on plywood, studs, rafters, beams, trusses, decking and flooring for all unfinished wood.
Average coverage of treatment is 200 square feet per us gallon with two coats. Be sure surface is clean of grease, dirt or concentrations of dust. Apply with hand or motorized spray equipment with no more then 800 psi for good results and over spray. Treated wood should be dry for 12 hours clean over spray with water for 15 minutes. W-1000 is classified class A fire retardant, surface burning characteristics of applied coating Interior rating is class A: Interior application 25 years, Exterior is class A, exterior application 3 year or 200 inches of rain or simulated. Flame spread=25 or less, Smoke Dev=26 or less, meets ASTM E-84, ASTM E-108 burning brand, NFPA 255, NFPA 703, UL 723, ASTM E-108 intermittent flame, UBC 42-1. Test results available on request, complies with U.S. Federal Regulation guidelines for paint and coatings.
W-1000 MSDS Information: Phosphoric Acid 20.6%. This aqueous based liquid is recommended for internal and external use. Total Solids=31.5%, Weight per gallon=9 LBS, PH factor=6, Flash point=0.
